Finger Food's Theme Buffet - Week 12 - Freestyle

Hi guys, and welcome to week 12 of FingerFood's Theme Buffet.  Today's prompt is freestyle, so I decided to do a glittery floral mani, inspired by this amazing one-stroke mani by Charlotte @ So You Beauty.

The base for this is 2true - Eva, with top coat added so I had a smooth base to work with.  I stamped the flowers from Pueen 72 with LaFemme - Lilac Cream, then added the details in the middle with Sally Hansen - Purple Pizazz, Color Club - Raspberry Rush, and Sinful Snow me White, using a striping brush and a dotting tool  I don't know if there's a name for this technique, but I have been referring to it as enhanced stamping. If you have any other names for it, I'd love to know what they are though.
As you can see, I did decide to mattify this in the end, but I do have glossy pictures too, as I wore this glossy for a day first.  I couldn't decide which way I liked it more, but if I had to pick it would probably be the glossy ones.
What do you guys think of this mani?  Do you like the matte or glossy version better?

Don't forget to check out all the other mani's in the thumbnails below.  I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else has come up with :D

  4. I thought you'd been playing with the one stroke technique at first. I like your method better cuz it gets good results without all the fuss. Me likey!

    1. Yeah, one stroke is something I have not yet mastered, but I want to have another go at it, as the last time I tried it I was still stuck on dots and animal print, and even they were pretty sloppy looking :D x

    2. I couldn't get the hang of one stroke in art school & while I may or may not try again now with nails, I'm not too worried about it. LOL There are SO many techniques to try out there I'm not going to obsess over one I can't do. I'll save my obsessions for frankening. LOL

    3. True! I've only tried once so far, so I'll give it a fair shot. I may even succeed this time, my painting skills are a lot better now than they were then, so you never know :D xx

  5. I usually LOVE matte finishes, but I think I prefer the glossy look, myself, this time. Your silver is SO shiny that I don't think the matte counters it well enough. It just makes the flowers look a bit more flat.

But your flowers turned out BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to try out this technique sometime

    1. I think you've hit the nail on the head there Manda, it's just so sparkly even under the matte top coat. It does look amazing textured before any top coat though, major sparkle!
Thank you hun, it is a great technique, especially if you're not so good at painting flower shapes. I suppose it's a bit like lead light stamping really. I'd love to see if you do try it though :D xx
