R is for Raspberry Rush & Red Black

Hi guys!  It's Thursday (already!), which means it's time for another letter in the A-Z of Polish.  This week we're up to R, and today I've picked two polishes - Color Club - Raspberry Rush, and Barry M - Red Black.......

So, I started by doing a gradient with Raspberry Rush, Red Black, and Sinful Colors - Black on Black.  However, the gradient did not go well at all.  I did these last night while I was really tired, and it got bits of sponge stuck to it where I was going over it whilst it was still very sticky.  I also went to bed without cleaning the gradient up last night, and woke up to find I had massive shrinkage in a couple of random places.  I nearly scrapped it then and there, but in the end I decided to stamp over it anyway and see if it was savable.
I used Barry M - Gold Foil and MoYou Pro XL 10.  Once the stamping was dry, I top coated with a pretty thick coat of HKGirl to try and smooth out the *spongeturds* (thanks to Alicia of Fixin' to Faff for that awesome word)  I did some careful clean up once it had set a little bit, and all in all, I don't think it turned out too badly.  You can see a few of the spongeturds in the macro shot, but in real life they weren't visible.
I also want to apologise for the weirdness of my skin in these photos - my camera was not pleased with this neon, so I had to do a bit of colour correcting.  They're still not quite right though, so if you're thinking of getting that Color Club yourself, please look at some proper swatches first :p

So, that's it from me today.  I'm off work for the next few days, so hopefully I'll have a few more posts for you over the next week or so.  In the meantime, don't forget to check out the rest of the R mani's on the hub page, here.  :D

  1. I love the gradient, so vampy! And I hate it when bits of sponge stick to my nails, usually happens when it is not wet enough, so try to remember and wet the sponge with water first.
