My first attempt at Stamping Decals

Hi guys, today I have some nail art to show you using a new technique for me.  I had a go at doing stamping decals last week, and while this is far from perfect I was still pretty happy with how it turned out.  It looked amazing from a normal distance, but as always, macro photos show every tiny flaw that isn't really visible in real life.

The rose stamp is from MoYou Mother Nature 05, and the roses were filled in with Revlon - Cupid, Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream, La Femme - Lilac Cream and Ice Blue Cream, Headline Colors - Poolside Party, and Barry M - Peach Melba.  I used Konad Black for the stamping, and Sally Hansen CSM - Lavender Cloud as a base.
The other 3 fingers are diagonal gradients (another first for me) of Revlon - Cupid, Rimmel Lycra Pro - Ultra Violet and La Femme - Ice Blue Cream.  The single butterflies are from MoYou Mother Nature 01, and the 3 on the thumb are from PUEEN39.  There are little flowers in this image too, but I removed them with a cotton bud before making the decals.  All of the butterflies were filled in with Poolside Party at the top and Blueberry Ice Cream at the bottom.
I found the full nail ones fairly easy to apply as I made the decals on my stamper.  That way the decal has a curve to it, making it fit around my nail very easily.  I have 3 normal stampers that I don't use, but I will be using them whenever I make decals now.  I almost did them on a plastic bag, but in hindsight it probably would of made it a lot harder, so I'm glad I didn't.  The smaller decals were actually harder to apply.  I kept touching the wet nail, and when I did get them in place, and applied my top coat a few of the edges starting curling up!  If you enlarge the pictures you will see it.  I had a little bit of smudging when colouring in the roses too, but I fully expected this to go really badly, so it wasn't as bad as I thought.  It was kind of fun though, so expect to see me trying this technique again at some point.
What do you guys think?  Do you do stamping decals or do you think it's too much hassle?

Why not have a look at what the other British Nail Bloggers have been up to this week via the thumbnails below : )

  1. It bugs me how IRL nails can look great but when you photograph them they look awful! I like these though, the gradient makes them even more special.

    1. It is really annoying, especially when you see the photo and realise your cuticles needed to be pushed back before painting!
Thanks hun, I really liked this gradient too, diagonal ones are cool : D xx
