So, the word for today is "Angles" (or angels, if you like :D) I decided to go with angles, and after doing this mani about a week ago, only to be super unhappy with the finish on a matte black I'd used, I really wanted to do it again. I started with a white base, and then used black acrylic paint to mark out my patches. Then I filled in the sections with Moyra - 87, Barry M - Key Lime, and Illamasqua - Gamma. After they were semi-dry, I went back over the black lines to tidy them up, and then painted little stitches along all the lines with a very fine striping brush. I usually find my stitches come out a lot nicer if I use a sharpie for them, but I couldn't be bothered to wait for them to be dry enough, so I just used acrylic paint.
After my top coat had dried, I mattified it, and took my photos. I think I should have waited a little longer to take my pictures, as it doesn't seem quite finished mattifying, but never mind. Can't always get it right :p
This was the original version of this mani, and I think you guys can see what I mean about the matte finish on the black nails. Brush-strokey, and just generally not looking too hot. I'm not sure if it was my application at fault, or the polish, but I think I'll have to look into it. Luckily, this black matte stamps, so if it is the polish and not me at fault, I'll just keep it for stamping instead. (It was the black matte side of the Laqa & Co Tuxedo duo, in case you were wondering)
Hhhhhmmmmphhhh!
So, that's all from me today, but I'll be back sometime in the next day or two, when I can grab a minute to type up the rest of my MoYou Review.
In the meantime, we have A2Z Inlinkz, so you can check out the other mani's in the thumbnails below. Hooray! We still have the hub page too, so you can view past weeks all together in one place, by clicking here.
Love the Halloween feel to these. Has a Nightmare Before Christmas feel x
