Hiya lovelies! You may remember that a while back, I reviewed a couple of stamping plates and a nail polish from MoYou Nails. Well, they've kindly offered me a few more items for review from their new releases......So, these are the items I picked out, plates 124 & 128, and the Royal Purple Special Nail Polish. in today's post I've used one image from each plate, and done one mani with the special nail polish. I decided to do the second mani for today with a regular nail polish, just to confirm that the plates work with other polishes too.
Let's start with the MoYou Nail Polish mani.....
So for this mani Is started with a base of Barry M - Pink Punch, and then I stamped the floral image from plate 124 with MoYou Nails - Royal Purple. In all honesty, this seemed a little less opaque than the Pink polish I was sent last time, but it did a good enough job of this mani. In the second part of the review I'll be trying it over a much darker colour, so we'll see how it does then.
I used my Messy Mansion soft stamper head, and my old gift card as usual, and didn't have any real issues picking the image up. There are a few tiny spots that didn't transfer perfectly, but I think that was because I scraped a little too hard. I tend to do that on any plate that has large areas. I'll be doing some paper swatches at the end of part 2 anyway, so I'll do this image then as well, see if scraping a little lighter will fix those spots.
I used a dotting tool to add a bit of Barry M - Fuchsia Glitter to the centre of the flowers, just to give this mani a little extra something, and I really like how it turned out. I think this mani really suits the new shorter length too, which is always nice when you've just lost a lot of length....
Anyway, the second mani was actually the first thing I put on after my cut down, and I seriously love how this turned out....
I started with 3 coats of Dark Metal Lacquer - Whisper as my base. This is an ultra holographic, full coverage silver glitter, with holographic pigment in the base too. After a coat of topcoat, I used Laval - Ultra Violet to stamp these funky chevrons from plate 128, again with my MM soft stamper and old gift card. As you can see, it transferred beautifully - no bald spots or thin patches.
I want to apologise quickly about the quality of my pictures for this mani. My camera is totally freaked out by the holo effect on this polish, and its blue and gold sisters, so I've had to resort to using my phone. It seems to give a much more accurate representation of the colours that flash from these glitters.
So, overall, I'm very pleased with these plates so far. I'm not going to rush to any judgements on the polish until I've given it a proper testing in part 2, but my first impressions are still good. The only thing I will mention about the plates is that the images aren't particularly large. On plate 124 with the floral images, they're 1.8cm x 1.6cm. They don't all have edges that are cut off though, so you could still use them on a nail slightly larger than that. I actually picked these plates especially for that reason. Irony anyone? On the other plate, 128, the images are a teeny bit longer at 1.9cm, and they seem to have different widths. The stripes and the sunburst type lines are just 1.5cm wide, and the chevrons and mermaid scales are 1.6cm. A bit weird, but not really a problem. :D
Both the plates, and the nail polish cost £4.99 each, and can be purchased via the MoYou Nails website, here.
So, that's all from me today, but I'll be back in a day or 2 with my mani for this weeks Pick'n'Mix challenge, and hopefully have the second part of this review up later in the week. There won't be a A-Z this week, as poor Charlie is stuck without a camera, so we're pushing it to next week instead. Don't worry though, I've got plenty of other mani's to post in the meantime :D
