To create my base, I started with 1 coat of Essie - The Lace Is On, which I managed to snag for £2.49 from Fragrance Direct. I really love this polish, so much that I actually picked up 2 more bottles yesterday :D Then, to add a bit of interest, I built up a couple of layers of random brushstrokes with The Lace Is On, and NYC - Full Metal Jacket.
Then it was time for my water spotting, so I taped up my cuticles, and grabbed my hairspray, and Barry M Gelly - Plum. This is what happened when I sprayed my hairspray.......
It all shrivelled up on one side of the cup. Not really what I was hoping for. I tried again, but sprayed closer to the water this time, and all I managed to do was make some of it jump out the cup.....
So, I found an old spray bottle, filled it with isopropyl alcohol, and tried again. It worked this time, thankfully!
So, I was super happy with how this turned out in the end. It took a little bit of trial and error to get there, but I think the end result looks pretty cool! What do you guys think?
So, that's all from me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with the next prompt, which is "Happiness". Until then, why not check out all the other mani's in the thumbnails below :)
This looks so cool, but I have to admit that water spotting is my least favorite technique (of those I've tried).
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely! I think watermarbling is still harder, but it was really frustrating when it wouldn't break up in the water. I kind of liked it once I'd found the right stuff to spray on it though :D xx
DeleteThis turned out so good, and that Essie polish is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI also tried to use hairspray at first and found it completely useless! x
Thanks lovely! Yeah, it is stunning isn't it! I put it in a gradient with a deep purple and the glow on that was amazing. It has an awesome formula, and the flat wide brush too.
DeleteI've heard a lot of bad things about Essie's, but this is my first and I adore it. Must have got lucky there :D
The hairspray was such a wash - seems like lots of other people have had the same thing happen too. Won't be bothering with that again haha xx
Yours looks great! Hair spray made mine shrivel too, I ended up using acetone flicked from a old paintbrush lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks gorgeous! That was an awesome idea on your part though - very resourceful, and it looked pretty cool in the end :D xx
DeleteLove these colours :) (yay purple! Hehe). I had the same problem with hairspray, glad it wasn't just me! Xx
ReplyDeleteAwwww, thanks lovely! Can't beat a bit of purple. Ever. :D Seems like all of us tried hairspray, and all of us found it useless. It definitely wasn't us - I blame whoever has some freak hairspray that works and told everyone about it lol xx
DeleteDefinitely can't!....and i now have a random image in my head of some poor unsuspecting nail blogger inadvertently spraying their hair with neat alcohol haha! Xx
Deletepahahahaha! she would be in major need of some conditioner me thinks! :D xx
DeleteThese are super pretty! I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, thanks lovely! It's good that you do, since my next 2 mani's are in pretty similar colour combo's. I think I'm stuck haha :D xx
DeleteIPA definitely works best for me with spotting but I still don't regret cheating on this prompt! I love looking at everyone else's looks though and this is gorgeous with that sparkle underneath!
ReplyDeleteWhy would you? You were smart, and not messy as f**k like me haha! :D Thanks lovely
Deletelol, I love that we both had a similar experience!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'll be even more pleased if you tell me that you shouted at yours when it happened too XD xxx
