A2Z - J is for....Jewel

Hiya lovelies, and welcome to this weeks A2Z post.  We're up to J now, and the prompt is "Jewel".  I decided to keep it fairly simple today, and kept my design mostly to an accent nail.  (Of course this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I only painted these last night)

So, I started by painting all of my nails black, except for the ring finger, and then I did a glitter gradient near the cuticles with Nails Inc - Marylebone Lane.  Then for the ring finger, I used 2 coats of Essie - After Sex (just to add a bit of depth), 2 coats of Marylebone Lane, and a couple of coats of top coat.  Once that was touch dry, I carefully painted a diamond shape with black acrylic paint, trying to keep my lines as thin as possible.  Then I went around the black outline with stripes of Orly - Luxe, which helped to thin out the outer lines that were a bit too thick.  Then I filled in all the space around the ruby, and top coated.

I was really happy with how this turned out.  I've never tried to paint any kind of gemstone before, so I was really pleased I didn't screw it up.  Plus, black and red is always a winning combination in my eyes.

So, what do you guys think of this mani?  Would you wear it?

That's definitely all from me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with the next prompt in the 31 day challenge.  In the meantime, please do check out the other ladies' jewel mani's by either browsing the thumbnails below, or searching the #A2ZNails on Instagram.
And as always, you can find the complete A2Z archive by visiting the hub page here.
